Everyone’s talking about “The Map,” the New York Times’ interactive look at how the nation voted on Tuesday. The map compares how states and counties voted on Tuesday compared with how they voted in 2004 and other elections.
When compared with the 2004 vote, the map shows states and counties getting “bluer,” meaning Democrats made gains [...]

Random notes on a Friday morning, three days after the Deal went down:
1) If the press wasn’t in the tank for Barack Obama, by God they oughta be — especially the print guys. A run on Wednesday morning newspapers might delay a few buyouts here and there. And now the major newsmagazines, Time and Newsweek, [...]

As we mentioned earlier this week, Matthew Heimer, The Wall Street Journal Magazine SmartMoney deputy editor, was in Little Rock today to speak at one of UALR’s regular economic forecast conferences.
ArkansasBusiness.com Assistant Internet Editor Amy Riggin was there and filed this report:
“I’m optimistic,” Heimer said. “He [Obama] seems to be someone who is eager to [...]

Lots being made about this year being the year that the youth vote gets out and really matters in a presidential election. And of course the conventional wisdom is that the youth vote will benefit Democrat Barack Obama.
“Today’s THV” is doing a segment on the youth vote tonight at 5 p.m., based on today’s panel [...]

Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama and Republican nominee John McCain made their respective closing arguments on Monday to that key constituency at Ground Zero of the global financial crisis. In opinion pieces in the Wall Street Journal, both candidates made the economic case for their presidencies.
Given the historic nature of the financial crisis, it’s interesting [...]

My boss, Arkansas Business President and Publisher Jeff Hankins, is making Tuesday predictions in his regular column in this week’s edition of the weekly business newspaper.
You can read the full column here. In short, here’s what Jeff expects for tomorrow night, starting with the biggie:
First, Barack Obama will make history as the first African-American elected [...]

I did a quick segment on KTHV’s “THV This Morning” on states to watch on Tuesday night. This was a broad overview, of course. But it sets the scene relatively well as to what will be the focus of news coverage for the first couple of hours after polls close. I’ll post a link to [...]

Given how volatile the stock markets have been in recent months, it’ll be interesting to see what happens this week, the week of a presidential election.
And this just isn’t any presidential election — it is a historic one. On Tuesday, we’ll break barriers for either African-Americans or women. Beyond that, we’ll select either the Democratic [...]
