Hillary, Huckabee, Severance Tax and the Lottery on ‘Arkansas Week’

Today I taped my first “Arkansas Week” of the new year. The show, featuring Steve Barnes, Jay Barth, Joe Halm and myself, airs tonight. We talked a lot about Hillary Clinton’s tough week, and everyone speculated on just what the heck Mike Huckabee is still doing in the race for the GOP nomination, which John McCain now can’t help but win.

Also: we note the AFL-CIO’s endorsement of Bill Halter’s lottery plan, and the latest round of developments on the severance tax front. With his proposal now approved by the state attorney general, Sheffield Nelson can seek the signatures to get the thing on the ballot. Meanwhile, the former gubernatorial candidate will debate any all comers on the need for severance tax increase, and he’s called the big natural gas companies to meet him on stage.

Tune in tonight for a good show, or check out the podcast when it becomes available here.
