  1. Interesting report by the ASNE. I’ve been enamored with the entire state of the industry. Either it was incredibly bloated, or these cuts will make the business of reporting the news far more difficult.

    I’ve written about NY Times reporter Kevin Sack’s visit to Little Rock last year. His view is that this is killing the business. While news will still get reported, other types of content (film criticism, of which I pay close attention, for example) and in-depth feature writing will cease to exist.

    I had dinner with a former AP reporter who says they’re having trouble as well – consolidating offices, not filling positions, etc. I guess everyone is feeling the digital pinch.
