The Big Jingle Jubilee Holiday Parade takes place at 3:30 p.m. Saturday in downtown Little Rock. I’m honored to be among the judges in this year’s parade, along with “The Real” Bob Steel from KARN’s “First News,” Susan Altrui of the Little Rock Zoo, Heather Allmendinger of the Downtown Partnership and Adriane Harrel of Mangan Holcomb of Little Rock.
Here’s how it works and what’s at stake:
School marching bands and non-profit community organizations will again have the opportunity to win cash prizes as part of the parade’s float competition. The band cash prizes will be $1000 and $500 for first and second places and $1,000, $750 and $500 for the top three winners among non-profit entries.
More info is available here.
Of course, there will be lesser celebrities at this year’s event, including someone named Korto Momolu, who was a “finalist and fan favorite from season five of Bravo Television’s hit fashion design reality series Project Runway.” Whatever that is.
Seriously, we all know who Momolu is, and we’re stoked that she’s the official Grand Marshal for this year’s parade. It should be great fun.
So if you’re downtown this weekend, stop by and say hello. Because Momolu’s in town, organizers expect a big turnout.
The judges’ stand is at the corner of Izard and Capitol. No autographs, please. We’ve got some Serious Judging Work to do.
If you’re gonna be downtown, might as well put on your running shoes and take part in Craig O’Neill’s 17th Annual Jingle Bell Run/Walk for Arthritis. The event begins at 11 a.m.
