TVNewser reports that former KATV-TV, Channel 7 anchor Susan Roesgen‘s contract with CNN won’t be renewed. Roesgen joined CNN in 2005 and reported from New Orleans during and after Hurricane Katrina.
She made some minor waves with her coverage of a Chicago Tea Party event, which she described as “anti-CNN since this is highly promoted by the right-wing, conservative network Fox.”
The TV news blog asked CNN whether her comments about the tea party and Fox played in the cable network’s decision not to renew her contract, but CNN would not comment.
In addition to working at KATV, Roesgen has worked at WABC-TV in New York, KFMB-TV in San Diego, WDSU-TV and WGNO-TV, both in New Orleans. And, for what it’s worth, she was recently ranked No. 61 on Mediaite’s “Power Grid” of TV reporters.
